InternFest 2024

InternFest is a recruitment event where well-prepared students come to be interviewed directly for open internship positions.

9 November 2023 from 1 to 4 P.M., Laurea Leppävaara campus, main lobby, Vanha maantie 9, 02650 Espoo

Thank you to all the participants! More information about the 2024 event coming later.

InternFest - get to know the person first

You will immediately get a more in-depth view of the student applying for an internship. The student, on the other hand, gets directly to the first stage of the job interview and shows what he is like as a person. Competence and motivation will be reviewed as the discussion progresses. After this, you can invite the potential authors to a second interview - after you have first gotten to know the person.

For who?

We invite companies that have open internships at the time of InternFest for our business administration, law, security, and IT students. The time of the internship can also be later.

Information about internship

  • How long is the internship?

The length of the internship varies from 2.5 to five months. The studies of Laurea students include two internships, which the student can complete either as two separate internships or as one longer internship. Completing a combined internship is currently popular with students.

The internship can also be completed part-time, in which case the length of one internship period is 400 hours. The student has the opportunity to complete an internship also during the summer, when the internship period can be formed into a fixed-term employment relationship similar to a summer job.

  • Paid or unpaid internship?

Internship can be paid or unpaid.

In a paid internship, the student is employed or employed at the place of internship. In this case, the student and the employer enter into a separate employment contract in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act, in which case the student receives a salary for his internship and is covered by the employer's labor protection. There is no single policy on the size of the salary, but salaries vary depending on the company. In government internships, the salary is around 1400-1700€/month. It is desirable that the intern would be treated the same as other employees, in which case other possible benefits would be in line with that.

The internship can also be unpaid, in which case the student, the internship representative and Laurea's representative enter into an internship contract. During the unpaid internship, the student is insured by Laurea.

  • When can a student start internship?

The student can complete the internship flexibly at a different stage of their studies, so the timing of the internship can easily be adjusted to the needs of the internship provider.

It is hoped that the trainings arranged at the time of HarkkaFest will start by the summer of 2024.
