Student union Laureamko

Student Unions protect students’ interests and promote their well-being. There is a Student Union in every University of Applied Sciences in Finland.

The Student Union of Laurea UAS is better known as Laureamko. Laureamko is very closely involved in the decision making processes in Laurea, bringing in student views. There is a Laureamko office and actives on all Laurea Campuses. Stop by at the office if you need anything or just want a cup of coffee!

As a member of Laureamko you’ll get student benefits in Finland. These benefits are accessible via the Laureamko digital student card, Slice. As a member you can also get the sports pass which offers many different sports services around the capital region. The sport pass includes in membership.
Laureamko hosts different events like sports tournaments, parties, movie and board game nights, bowling events and other activities to help the students bond.

More information can be found on Laureamko's website, Facebook and Instagram (@laureamko)

Degree Camp

Laureamko is having a camp together with two other Student Unions (Helga and METKA) for new degree students. Whether you are just moving to Finland or have been living here for a while, we invite you with open arms to participate.

During the camp you will get to meet other degree students around the capital region, make connections and share your initial thoughts on studying in Finland while experiencing traditional Finnish culture. Previous years we have roasted sausages and corn at a special grill house called “Kota”, gone rowing and afterwards enjoyed the heat of sauna as well as shared our thoughts on living and studying in Finland.

Camp’s purpose is to help you integrate to Finnish culture by getting to know the basics of life in Finland, as well as to build a network of like-minded students from your peers and older students and staff. For instance, we will practise together how to reach out to Finns and set up routines. Don’t worry though, this is not an intensive study weekend about studying in Finland.
Fun fact: Finland has low power distance and flat hierarchy, which means your teachers are like your mentors; they will happily help you find your place when you arrive.

The camp is held on 11th and 12th of September 2020 at Korpirauhan leirikeskus. There is no attendance fee. Even though the camp is organised with the Parish Unions of the capital region, it is a non-religious event.
