International experts on critical information infrastructure and cybersecurity gather in Vantaa, Finland

Laurea University of Applied Sciences hosts the international CRITIS2023 conference on Critical Information Infrastructure Security on 13-15 September at the Tikkurila campus in Vantaa. This major annual international event brings together leading experts, researchers and professionals in the field of critical infrastructure and cybersecurity to share knowledge, experiences and solutions to protect critical information infrastructure. The conference will provide a unique platform to discuss current cybersecurity threats, challenges and opportunities related to maintaining and protecting critical information infrastructure. The special theme this year is hybrid threats. In addition to presentations by leading experts and researchers in the field, the conference will include sessions showcasing the latest research findings to support networking with industry peers. Nearly 100 participants from Europe, Asia and the United States are expected to attend the conference.

The conference will start on Wednesday 13 September from 13.00 at Tikkurila campus Ratatie 22. The day will follow the following programme:

13.30-13.50 Speech: The new reality of security, Jarno Limnéll, Doctor of Military Sciences, Member of Finnish Parliament
13.50 -14.10 Speech by Peter Sund, CEO, Finnish Information Security Cluster (FISC)
Discussion chaired by Päivi Mattila, Laurea's Director of Security Research, until 15.00 and will continue as scheduled.

The CRITIS2023 conference aims to improve preparedness planning, ensure continuity of critical operations and information exchange during disruptions and emergencies, and ensure the adequate security of our society. It also aims to find new ways of cooperation between actors and to make use of the latest research results. Due to Finland's geographical location, a new topic to be addressed this year is the emphasis on hybrid threats in the context of critical information infrastructure security. Other topics considered relevant to current security problems will also be discussed.
