Path Studies in Autumn 2024

Enrolment for Path studies is done through a separate enrolment form. Link to the enrolment form will be updated to these pages closer to the enrolment period.

NOTE! You can only enrol for one degree programme or group as a path student. Enrolment is binding so you can't change the degree programme, group, campus or the study implementation after the enrolment.

After the enrolment you will receive a confirmation message by e-mail where are the registration instructions for Orientation for Open UAS Path Studies online course. 

You will get a separate invitation to the online course by e-mail after the enrolment period. You can log in to the course from the invitation. Orientation for Open UAS Path Studies is self-study course which will be completed online.

Student selection for path studies is made on the basis of an Orientation for Open UAS Path Studies course. It is a self-study online course. In the course you will learn more about Laurea as a study environment, path studies and study schedules. Also you get to know and evaluate your study skills and strengths for higher education studies through different assignments and tests. More detailed course contents are shown in the course's Canvas learning environment after you have logged in to the course.

The online course Orientation for Open UAS Path Studies is 1 credit which means 27 hours of studying. Make sure you have time to carry on the orientation course. You can complete the study unit in multiple sections and on separate days. Course will be completed independently in Canvas learning environment and we recommend using a computer.

If you pass the study unit successfully, you can receive 1 credit regardless of whether you are selected for the path studies or not.

If you have completed the Orientation for Open UAS Path Studies course earlier in the previous application periods, you can't get a new credit from the same course. The contents of the course has been updated and therefore you need to complete the renewed course successfully in order to be considered in the student selection in this application period.

Path students are selected on the basis of a successfully completed Orientation to Open UAS Path Studies study unit on the following criteria and in the order shown below:   

1. The applicant has successfully completed all the modules.
   • has submitted the module’s assignments.
   • has taken the module’s tests.
   • has received a minimum score from the module’s tests (the scores are told at the tests).
   • has passed the video assignment.
2. Ranking is based on the points scored by degree programme if there are more applicants who have successfully completed the study unit than there are path study places.
   • The applicants with the highest scores will be selected according to the number of path study places in each degree programme.
   • Points from the tests in modules 4, 5 and 6 are taken into account in the scoring.
3. In a tie situation, the path student selection is made based on the video and on the motivation, commitment to the studies, study skills and suitability for the field as demonstrated in the video.
4. If the path student selection isn't resolved according to the above criteria, the path student selection is made with a draw.

If you pass the study unit successfully, you can receive 1 credit regardless of whether you are selected for the path studies or not. You will be able to  see this in the My Studyinfo (Oma Opintopolku) by 31st of August 2024.
