Baltic2­Hand - As good as new: Enhancing the behavioral and business change of the second-hand textile industry in the Central Baltic region

The aim of the Baltic2Hand project is to improve the reuse of textiles and reduce textile waste in the textile market. The project involves fashion and textile industry organizations from Latvia, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. Within the project, we co-create solutions for both profit and non-profit organizations to include a second-hand operation into their business model, to boost second-hand operations and/or to include other type circular operations into their business.

Expected results: 

The main groups that benefit from the project are fashion and textile organizations and second-hand companies that want to improve or add second-hand operations to their business models and consumers. 

The project will:

  • improve textile reuse
  • reduce textile waste
  • provide background research on the second-hand market in the Baltic region, highlighting challenges and opportunities
  • generate new ideas towards more sustainable secondhand market
  • develop improved or new second-hand-related business models and concepts

Based on these findings the project will also develop materials (see Project materials -Central Baltic)

Baltic2Hand project is coordinated by Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland). The other partners are Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Latvia), Tallinn Business Incubators Foundation (Estonia), and Sustainability InnoCenter (Sweden).

The project is funded by an Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021-2027 project that is co-funded by the European Union.
