Find your own way to study at Laurea

At Laurea, you study flexibly, practically and in close cooperation with working life.

Studies in all of Laurea’s degree programmes include the same four factors; flexibility, support and guidance, practically oriented studies in accordance with the Learning by Developing model, and close cooperation with working life. Together, these factors ensure that Laurea’s students graduate as strong and independent experts for the future.

1. At Laurea, you can study flexibly

At Laurea, flexibility in studying starts with finding the right form of study. Laurea offers three ways to complete studies: daytime studies, blended learning and studies completed fully online. Each form of study has its own strengths, which makes them suitable for different students and different life situations.

During the studies, we also offer our students flexible ways to acquire competence as part of their degrees. Previously acquired competence can be taken into account in the degree through the recognition and accreditation of prior learning. You can also acquire the competence required for the degree in the workplace, which will speed up the progress of your studies.

2. At Laurea, you will receive guidance and feedback

At Laurea, you will receive continuous guidance and feedback, which will help you develop and progress in your studies. Student guidance at Laurea is comprehensive, continuous, interactive and goal-oriented, and it involves the entire learning community. Through guidance, we support the student's learning, professional development and career planning as well as well-being. At the same time, the student’s personal active role in making use of the guidance is also important.

One of the persons supporting you at Laurea is your teacher tutor, who will help you to structure your goals, wishes and possibilities related to your studies and professional development. The goal of tutoring is that students make well-considered individual study choices, promote their personal well-being and graduate within the planned target time.

3. At Laurea, you will build your future with us in cooperation with working life

Laurea is your bridge to working life. We work closely together with both you and working life, and Learning by Developing (LbD) is at the core of the studies. This offers you a unique opportunity to develop your competence in cooperation with teachers, students and working life representatives. By studying at Laurea, you will build up your knowledge base, hone your practical skills and develop creative solutions to real-world challenges.

During your studies at Laurea, you will participate in a variety of development projects that will prepare you for professional growth and networking with the world of work. We work in close cooperation with our key partner companies. Laurea combines the needs of working life with the quality of teaching, something which is reflected in excellent employment opportunities. Among those graduating from Laurea, 96.5% have found jobs within a year of graduation (Finnish National Agency for Education, 2022).

4. At Laurea, you will receive high-quality services that support your studies

Student well-being refers to the comprehensive welfare of students and to supporting students in their studies, learning and development. The aim of Laurea’s student welfare services is to provide students with the support and tools they need to maintain their well-being and remove obstacles to it.

Laurea offers the services of counselling psychologists and special education teachers, as well as various guidance services you may need for progressing in your studies and career. Our partner, Finnish Student Health Service (YTHS), offers health care services, and the parishes in the municipalities where our campuses are based provide school chaplains' services.

The student union Laureamko also organises diverse sports and club activities and, in cooperation with Laurea, provides student tutoring and support in cases of harassment.
