Personnel: Development of supervisory and managerial work

In 2024, personnel competence was strengthened in line with the priorities of the pedagogical programme. Future workshops have been held to develop foresight competence, and sustainable development was incorporated in induction training and development discussions. Sustainable development competence at Laurea was made visible by publishing a book titled "Creating a sustainable future – Laurea's perspectives on sustainable development". The personnel’s AI-related competence and understanding were supported by organising AI training and offering an AI guide on the intranet. The AI theme was also promoted as part of the strategic change project. Efforts to identify strategic competences were launched in preparation for the new strategy period.

The personnel's internationality and diversity were strengthened by providing language training, both within Laurea and in cooperation with higher education institutions in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Laurea also participated in such projects as 3AMK Language Resource, which aimed to develop Finnish language education for international personnel. Job advertisements were updated to promote diversity, and centralised Relocation services were introduced to support the integration of future international talents in Finland.

Employees have been assisted in designing their work through team training and facilitation, which have been organised as needed and tailored to the teams' needs. The workshops were planned in cooperation with HR and team supervisors. LaureaShip interaction coaching suitable for the teams was also piloted. Training was organised for managers and supervisors on such topics as labour law and improving RDI competence. Processes and practices were developed together at the Smooth daily work events aimed for supervisors. A peer mentoring group for induction training provided for new Laurea employees was launched.
