What is Free mover exchange?

Laurea welcomes students from non-partner institutions to its exchange programs. Our competent staff will guide you through the entire process and your exchange experience. Free mover applicants organize their exchange completely independently, including the whole application process and other arrangements.

You will be studying in one of the safest and most risk-free countries in the world where almost everybody speaks english. We quarantee housing and support with other practicalities to make your experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Your exchange experience will be supported by competent staff who will assist you with the planning of your studies, housing, immigration arrangements, living information, and studying in Finland.

The roadmap: From ap­pli­ca­tion to graduation

  1. By October 1st: Make sure your university/agent has nominated you through the nomination form on this website. Before your university nominates you, please share the important links regarding our education and various practical matters to allow your institution to understand your choice.  
  2. By October 15th: Laurea international office will contact you to start the application process. You will be interviewed, guided through practicalities and your experience is planned with you
  3. By October 30th: You are conditionally accepted and a letter of acceptance is provided
  4. By November 15th: You pay the tuition fee and can apply for the VISA and housing
  5. By the second week of January: You arrive in Finland, settle in and receive the orientation training
  6. During the spring semester: You study, enjoy the benefits of learning as well as the cultural and integration experience
  7. End of May and end of June: You receive confirmation letters, certificates and transcript of records and return home

Tuition fee

All incoming Free-Mover exchange students are required to pay tuition fee for their semester studies at Laurea. The tuition fees are VAT-inclusive. Students can choose between two options below on how they wish to pay their tuition fees:

  1. 5900 Euros: Tuition fee for Studies only
  2. 9400 Euros: All-inclusive Tuition fee that covers studies, accommodation and administrative service charges only.

Tuition fee does NOT include anything else which is not mentioned in the fee category selected by the applicant. Applicants are also responsible for their meal plans, local and international transportation, insurance, visa, etc. We recommend applicants to take a look at the costs of living in Finland which can be found at the important links above.

To apply you have to make sure that your university/agent has nominated you through the nomination form below. Nominations done by students themselves will not be considered.
