Master's Degree in Global Health and Crisis Management

Application fee in Finland

Starting from 1 January 2025, the applicants applying to English-taught degree programmes from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee of 100 euros to apply to Bachelor's or Master's level studies in Finland.

Programme content

Studies in the Master’s Degree Programme in Global Health and Crisis Management focuses on health and social care development and management from the perspectives of global health and humanity, health and infection prevention, and crisis management.

The students will gain competences in developmental evaluation at global health settings, as well as at preparedness and prevention, management, leadership and communication at disaster scenes. Degree provides competencies to work in international contexts E.G., development projects; multicultural partnerships; and multidisciplinary networks and teams in public and private consortiums. The students have an opportunity to achieve competencies necessary for actual and future working life. These include open-mindedness and understanding of different cultures, traditions and effective services which are essential part of health and social care in continuous change.

The degree programme consists of core competence studies, the thesis, and complementary competence studies. Core competence studies and the thesis are compulsory for all students and their scope is 30 + 30 ECTS credits. Scope of the complementary competence studies is 30 ECTS credits and they allow you to deepen and extend your knowledge in crisis management and quality management in infection prevention.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants to this Master's programme must have completed one of the degrees mentioned below:
 
  Bachelor of Health Care
  Bachelor of Social Services


or other relevant Bachelor's/Masters's degree in the field of human Health Care and Social Services. Laurea may, at its discretion, also consider other relevant degrees completed at University or University of Applied Sciences.

In addition, all applicants must have a minimum of two years (24 months) of relevant work experience acquired after graduation date of the degree. Work experience must either be related to the degree applicant is applying for or related to the degree applicant have graduated from.

A student may be admitted to degree-awarding education only after they have passed the entrance exams and the student’s eligibility to apply will be verified from the students’ Bachelor or Masters’ degree certificates and the relevant work experience certificate.

If the language of the degree certificate and proof of work experience is not Finnish, Swedish, or English, the applicant must also submit a copy of a translation of the degree certificate and work experience, prepared by an official translator. The translation should carry the translator’s name and stamp.
