Laurea participates in a recruitment event for Ukrainians
Laurea University of Applied Sciences is one of the organizers of a nationwide recruitment event that supports the employment and education of Ukrainians.
Laurea will participate in the Rekrytori Ukraine Aid Finland event to be held at Metro Areena in Espoo on 25 October. The event will bring together work and training opportunities for Ukrainians in Finland and serve as a meeting place for Ukrainian jobseekers and companies seeking labour force.
In addition to Laurea, the event organisers include the City of Espoo, Omnia: the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo region, the Uusimaa TE Office, Suomenoja Ukraine Aid Centre, and the Ukrainian Association in Finland. The event is a continuation of the series of Rekrytori Ukraina job-seeking events held in Tampere in the spring. Its producer Honkalamedia Ltd. is also involved in the autumn.
The patron of the event will be Jukka Mäkelä, Mayor of Espoo, and the event will be opened by Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen. A panel discussion will also be organised in connection with the recruitment event. Its themes include work-related immigration and, in particular, the employment of Ukrainian refugees in Finland.
Companies in need of labour force are encouraged to participate
The recruitment event is free of charge for visitors. At the event, jobseekers can meet employers, explore training opportunities and receive support in matters related to job seeking. Help will be available for making CVs, and you can get language support in Ukrainian, Russian, and English.
Companies can apply for a free stand in the event. For companies seeking labour force, Rekrytori Ukraine Aid Finland will provide opportunities for finding new employees and, at the same time, support the employment and integration of Ukrainians into Finnish society.
– We encourage especially large national employers to participate if they have suitable jobs for asylum seekers, said Mikko Honkala, the producer of the event, in a Rekrytori newsletter.
Two Laurea projects participate in the event
Laurea will participate in the Rekrytori event with projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture: Business Project Studies for Ukrainians and HERE Ukraine!. The goals of both projects include supporting the studies of Ukrainians living in Finland and developing educational programmes aimed at them.
The Business Project Studies for Ukrainians project creates an opportunity for Ukrainians who have arrived in Finland to start or continue their higher education studies in business projects at Laurea. These projects are part of Laurea’s Business Management studies. The recently launched HERE Ukraine! 3AMK project (Haaga-Helia UAS, Metropolia UAS, and Laurea UAS) develops studies for Ukrainians with the aim of strengthening the competencies needed in social, psychological, and physical rebuilding.
The HERE Ukraine! project will be present at Rekrytori Ukraine Aid Finland, showcasing its study units, the first of which will begin in January. Annukka Jussila, Project Manager in the project, is delighted with the opportunity to talk about the starting programmes and to meet future students:
– This event is organised right on time. We are about to start marketing our study offering, and this will certainly be a good way to start our project.
