Impactful and responsible Laurea — the societal impact report for 2018 is now out

How does responsibility show in Laurea’s daily operations? What does it mean to be a higher education institution that values people? How has Laurea promoted students’ integration into the labour market? The societal impact report 2018 includes interesting descriptions of students’ daily activities, projects and research as well as of innovations that provide concrete examples of what impactful and responsible activities mean at Laurea. Did you know, for example, that all of Laurea’s students and staff members have the opportunity to participate in voluntary work? Or that Laurea has contributed to promoting the further education of students with an immigrant background?

The report naturally reflects students’ opinions as well: Kristiina, a student of the online degree programme in social sciences, which was immensely popular in this spring’s joint application, describes the opportunities offered by online education, while students of the new Master’s programme in beauty and cosmetics delight in the opportunity to continue to develop their competence.

In addition to narratives, the report naturally includes statistics and numerical information, such as the results of the stakeholder survey, which indicate that 96% of stakeholder representatives are satisfied with their co-operation with Laurea and that 91% of them find the opportunities for co-operation with higher education institutions to be interesting. The rates of employment among graduates remain high. Of Laurea’s students, 93.7% had found employment within one year of graduation, which is one of the top results of Finnish higher education institutions.
