Laurea takes an active role in reforming the evaluation practices of RDI activities

The international Coalition of Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) aims to renew research assessment practices.

The international Coalition of Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) aims to renew research assessment practices. Laurea has signed the CoARA agreement and thus committed to following and promoting its principles. At the heart of CoARA is the idea that the merits of researchers and other people involved in research should be looked at more holistically. The participation of the UAS sector in the CoARA process is instrumental as our RDI work differs from the activities of traditional science universities.

The CoARA process is divided into international working groups and national chapters. The first working groups have been recently published, and Laurea is a founding member of one of these groups. The goal of this group is to create a reference network for the evaluation of applied research, research-oriented development work, and interdisciplinary research. The consortium brings together universities and UAS broadly across Europe – our 3AMK partner, Haaga-Helia UAS, is a member. The working group aims to start its activities by the end of 2023.

More information about the CoARA process and the activities of the working groups can be found at: CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment.

Laurea’s CoARA contact person is Grant Writer Tiina Kelkka (PhD, adj. prof.).
