InternFest

InternFest is a recruitment event where well-prepared students come to be interviewed directly for open internship positions. Read more and join the event!

"We immediately found a suitable intern at the event." (Feedback from the 2023 event.)

7 November 2024 from 10 am to 4 pm, Laurea Leppävaara campus
Vanha maantie 9, 02650 Espoo

InternFest - get to know the person first

The InternFest recruitment event gives you the opportunity to get to know the person before reading the CV. You will immediately get a more in-depth view of the student applying for an internship. The student, on the other hand, gets directly to the first stage of the job interview and shows what they are like as a person. Competence and motivation will be reviewed as the discussion progresses. After this, you can invite the potential authors to a second interview - after you have first gotten to know the person.

For who?

We invite companies that have open internships at the time of InternFest. The desired start of training is by summer 2025.

At the event, our students are looking for internships from the following fields:

Service Business

Business Management and Information technology

What?

A recruitment event where well-prepared students come to be interviewed directly for open internship positions.

You get your own interview space, where students can book 15-minute interview times. After this, you can invite the most suitable candidates for more in-depth interviews at a time that suits you.

Internship positions must be published on JobTeaser by 13 October 2024. Read the instructions below under "Practical information".

In addition to interviews, you can hold a stand in the lobby where you can talk with students about your other job opportunities.

Key partners also have the opportunity to offer thesis topics. Please contact separately about this. Places are limited.

Experiences

InternFest was organized for the first time in November 2023. Each of the companies that participated in the event found an intern.

"The best part of the event was getting on campus, talking with the students and collaborating with Laurea. We were also able to progress from the event to a working relationship with your students. There are people interested for a longer period of time, so we will continue discussions with many of them next year."

Information about internship

  • How long is the internship?

The length of the internship varies from 2.5 to five months. The studies of Laurea students include two internships, which the student can complete either as two separate internships or as one longer internship. Completing a combined internship is currently popular with students.

The internship can also be completed part-time, in which case the length of one internship period is 400 hours. The student has the opportunity to complete an internship also during the summer, when the internship period can be formed into a fixed-term employment relationship similar to a summer job.

  • Paid or unpaid internship?

Internship can be paid or unpaid.

In a paid internship, the student is employed or employed at the place of internship. In this case, the student and the employer enter into a separate employment contract in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act, in which case the student receives a salary for his internship and is covered by the employer's labor protection. There is no single policy on the size of the salary, but salaries vary depending on the company. In government internships, the salary is around 1400-1700€/month. It is desirable that the intern would be treated the same as other employees, in which case other possible benefits would be in line with that.

The internship can also be unpaid, in which case the student, the internship representative and Laurea's representative enter into an internship contract. During the unpaid internship, the student is insured by Laurea.

  • When can a student start internship?

The student can complete the internship flexibly at a different stage of their studies, so the timing of the internship can easily be adjusted to the needs of the internship provider.

It is hoped that the internships arranged at the time of InternFest will start by the summer of 2025.

More information about the event

  • Practical information
    1. Register to the event
      • Reserve in advance:
        • Logo
        • Marketing text
        • Billing information
    2. Publish an internship on JobTeaser no later than Sunday 13 October 2024. More information about JobTeaser you can find here.
      • All internships are reported to JobTeaser so that on 14 October students can read announcements and book interview times for you.
      • Each job advertisement is published separately. So if you have more than one internship open, publish all the announcements separately. The title of the announcement is written in the form "INTERNFEST: Job title, internship", i.e. for example: "INTERNFEST: payroll assistant, internship".
      • The following text is always added to the beginning of the description: "This internship is part of the InternFest recruitment event. You can reserve an interview for this position on Thursday, November 7, between 10 am and 2 pm, at the Leppävaara campus. You can access the booking calendar here."
        • Links to the booking calendars are added by Laurea to each announcement.
    3. Be prepared for 15-minute interviews
      • Things to be considered:
        • A good idea could be to focus on the so-called motivational questions and getting to know the person - not focusing on the experience
          • "Why do you want to work in this field/company/etc.?"
          • "What do you want to learn from this training?"
          • "How does this internship fit into your future plans?"
      • A maximum of nine interviews during the event
    4. Book appointments in your calendar in advance for job interviews after InternFest
      • It would be good for the student to be able to book an appointment themself, once they have received permission (e.g. direct link to the calendar)
    5. Prepare your own marketing materials
      • One table and electricity at your disposal
      • Do you need anything else? Let me know!
    6. Prepare for arrival in Leppävaara
      • Arrival instructions can be found below on the website
