Laurea participated ICN congress in Helsinki

Laurea participated ICN congress in Helsinki 9.-13.6.2025

The International Congress of Nursing (ICN) was held at the Helsinki Exhibition Centre from 9 to 13 June. This year, the global event was held for the thirtieth time. The last event was held in Finland 100 years ago in 1925.

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) network, which organises the event on an international rotating basis, represents up to 27 million nurses worldwide. The theme of this year's event at the Exhibition Centre was “Nursing power to change the world”. In total, the event attracted 6,500 participants, of which 6,000 were international.

The congress serves as a forum for sharing the latest nursing research,
developing practice in the field and strengthening the global role of nursing, says Niina Glerean, Lecturer in Nursing at Laurea.

The event has been an opportunity to network nationally and
internationally. Laurea's stand has been busy throughout the week. We have
been able to form new partnerships and share good practices in nursing education.

In addition to the exhibition stand, Laurea was involved in the event in many different ways. During the event, our lecturers Emmaculate Tamankag and Riikka Mulder conducted a masterclass session on “The Cultural Mediation in Changing Health Care Environment”. Jonna Suominen, Tiina Mäkelä, Mika Alastalo, Anne Makkonen, Salla Seppänen, Lotta Tiilikainen, Marina Arvonen, Ilari Ernamo, Sanna Kuivalainen, Johanna Saastamoinen, Kirsi Tulus, Kristiina Helminen and Outi Ahonen participated in the poster exhibition. Sanna Partamies, Sirkku Mäntynen and Minna Launonen helped to represent the exhibition stand.
