Laurea Leppävaara
Students in the Business Management programme in Laurea Leppävaara learn professional competences in transnational and multi-domestic environments and with international dimension in the curriculum. The competences develop through four annual themes: initiation of professional growth, development of core competences in the field, deepening professional competence and workplace development and renewal.
A changing business environment requires innovation, the ability to anticipate changes and change management skills. The ability to analyse and develop business operations is essential .Business Management graduates have the required professional knowledge and skills to act as innovators in their fields. Working in a dynamic and networked business environment requires versatile communication skills, ethical management and the ability to utilise the potential offered by information technology.
Studies include real business projects which are implemented according to the Learning by Developing – model. Students, lecturers and experts from business life work in collaboration.
The demand for individually tailored study paths is met with elective study units. Having successfully completed the compulsory studies, students deepen their competence in accordance with their personal study plans. Elective studies and the thesis give further depth to the personal study plan and help students to attain roles as innovators in their selected fields.

Laurea Otaniemi
In the Laurea Business Ventures (LBV) unit at Laurea Otaniemi, students develop and implement the business operations of their own and partner companies’ in practical projects. Development projects increase the students’ business acumen and relationship network.
Each student chooses their own projects and completes their studies individually, with the result that each student achieves unique know-how and a foothold in the business world as an entrepreneur or company employee. The amount of compulsory studies has been minimised while ensuring students receive a good overview of all the main aspects of business operations. The LBV curriculum allows for learning at the times and in the order chosen by the students.
Evaluation is carried out as a development-oriented process by clients, students and mentors in collaboration, keeping in mind the project plan’s objectives.
Laurea Business Ventures is located in the Active Life Village in Espoo, in the high-innovation environment of Otaniemi. Located in Otaniemi are 13 public organisations involved with innovation, as well as the Finnish headquarters of more than 100 large companies and numerous SMEs. LBV works in close cooperation with its network of partners, with the aim of developing business activities and expertise regionally. LBV is also a member of international innovation networks.
