Language certificate requirement 2012

All non-EU/EEA citizens who are applying with a foreign(non-Finnish) upper secondary qualification must provide an approved certificate of his/her language skills by 24 February 2012 16:15 Finnish time. Please send all certificates well in advance to avoid delay. Late certificates are not considered. Applicants must ensure the required certificates arrive on time before the deadline. Other language certificates not mentioned on this page are not considered. 

Approved language certificates:

1) IELTS minimum requirement: academic level 6.0. IELTS results are valid for two years from date of examination. Result must be valid 9th January 2012. IELTS exams in Finland are offered by the Finnish-British Society, Finnbrit. Please book your exam as soon as possible to ensure you get an exam place before January 2012! Good photocopies of IELTS result score sheets are accepted.

2) TOEFL minimum requirements: 550 points for paper-based test/ 79-80 points for internet-based test. TOEFL results are valid for two years from date of examination.Result must be valid 9th January 2012.TOEFL score results are only accepted if sent directly to the Admissions office from the Educational Testing Service (photocopies of TOEFL are not accepted!).The TOEFL Institutional Reporting Code for Laurea UAS is 0562. TOEFL exams in Finland are offered by Premeria Prometric test centre. Please book your exam as soon as possible to ensure you can get your exam score delivered to the Admissions Office before the deadline.

3) grade C in the Finnish matriculation examination in advanced level English (IB-examination grade 4 completed in Finland, Reifeprüfung –examination grade 7 completed in Finland or EB-examination grade 6.00-6.95)

4) skills level 4 in English in the National Certificate of Language Proficiency / www.oph.fi =>Mobility=>Testing Language skills)

5) upper secondary school education or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree completed in Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.

6) A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completed in English in a EU/EEA -country.
